A Good Life Chosen

In this blog and pages, I want to share what God and others share with me – life is short, live now, spend wisely, celebrate family and friends, love dogs, horses, cats, and all creation.

I work as an RN, I play with my dogs, I read books, I listen to music, I stand up against wrong, I live quietly (well, as much as one can with 10 hounds in the house).

Come help me connect more with others in person and online.

Thank you for joining me on this quest. BTW, IMHO,ย God is above gender, therefore you will see me refer to “I AM” as both He and She.

My personal creed is:

A life dedicated to God:

  • healing (nursing) and
  • animal welfare, particularly adult and senior dogs.

  1. Your blog is warm, your life is blessed!

Have you heard the song by Bill Stains, “All God’s Critters Got a Place in the Choir”? You and your family of critters would enjoy it I’m sure.
    This is the chorus:
“All God’s critters got a place in the Choir,
Some sing low, some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on the telephone wire,
And some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they got now.”

Each verse highlights the various voices of all kinds of animals including hippopotamus, cow, grizzly bear, hoot owl, and many others, “…and the porcupine talks to himself”. You should find it easily on YouTube.

I write, sing and play music (guitar) mostly for healing, for my own healing “musician, heal thyself!” For my family, at the beside for people passing, or recovering, or suffering, for the human family, inter-demoninational, cross-cultural, and try to speak to all generations. I have played also for dogs, cats, horses, and was inspired by the work of Jim Nollman who helped redefine ‘intelligence’ with his research into playing music with whales, dolphins, buffalo, wolves, snails, turkeys, and many others. Using all kinds of instruments, he gets right into their midst and plays, and they join in!

I also play at my local Community Church of the Brethren out here in Washington State every Sunday with rehearsals every Wednesday night in a little acoustic group of 4 or 5 people. Music is a wonderful ministry which I hope to grow for as many years as God will keep me here. After that, who knows? I’ve always wanted to learn harp.

This past year I’ve been studying the history of hymnody, mostly early American and British Isles, Europe, and getting back into classical guitar with Bach, Albioni, Rodrigo, and so many others. Trying to write a “hymn”. Had a few humble beginnings. Also have set some devotional prayers and poems by others to music, poems and prayers by Sufi poet Rumi, Sufi mystic Hazrat Inayat Khan, Alfred Lloyd Tennyson, Lao Tzu, William Wordsworth, etc….

My latest song, both words and music is “One Light, Many Lamps” from the Baha’i bumper sticker of the same name. I also composed a blues for the Bodhisattva of Compassion called Bodhi’s Blues. I am also always broke, always in debt, but the Lord continues to provide….Gratitude is a good attitude to nurture.

Be well! Continue the Good Work, and write often. Thank you! – Tim

    1. Thank you for your comment! I like your Ananya story attempt, though had a hard time imagining me at 0300 in the morning conversing at all :). Stories are life – keep living and being who you really are.

All will be well, Roberta aka “Bobbie” * *
